The Ultimate Liar Robert Butcher Solo Show at Art On A Gallery 2016
Butcher’s show consisted of acrylic coated prints with frames made from found wood. English born and raised in Australia he is fascinated by the American flag, the paper posters on the subway walls all ripped & torn with the underlayers of poster upon
poster showing through. On one wall, American Madonas - he combined these with the muses that surround him creating stunning images. On the facing wall, Liar – “I'm the ultimate liar. We all get what we want either through lying directly or lying through omission. We seduce the women, we dress them up and we are liars.” It is about us, the viewer, the voyeur, and society's double standard the way it perceives women, being the liar, not he subject matter in the print.
