to interview our good friend Tibbie X Submissive Femme Front- woman of “GASH” and she’s Reagan Youths bassist...
Mikes: Tibbie X, thank you for joining us this evening and hopefully together we can introduce some of the readers to your fantastic S&M Themed Punk Band GASH.
Tibbie X: I always thank people for having me. Lets go...
Q: So GASH is a Gritty,
Raw, Fast, and Aggressive
Punk band from Philadelphia,
fronted by you, Tibbie X.
Incorporating elements of
bondage, and Sado
Masochism into your live
performance, would you say
that’s an accurate descrip-
tion? How and when did this
whole idea come to fruition?
Tibbie X: I met guitarist Hit Cunningham
and I had no idea I was about to encounter a fellow fetishist (he’s active- ly Dom) and I believe our energy natu- rally attracted our fellow perverts gui- tarist A.J. Delinquent “I’ll fuck anything with a pulse,” Outspoken Furry Bassist Travis Travesty, and our drummer Atom Riot... I don’t know what’s going on there but he now is a proud owner of his first ball gag. Hit n’ A.J.s guitars play off each other switching from heavy riffs to speedy leads, Travis is sexy 1970’s melodic Sabbath and Atom is rhythmic Chaos - it’s like the music is the best kind of rough sex, the perfect melody for me to scream my desires out to the world. At the show GASH played with your band Sparklefight, I met Domme Stephxecutioner, also known as Mistress Stephanie. She is now our offi- cial GASH Dominatrix. Before It was weird for me to be collared by strangers onstage and just like, alone, struggling around backstage after playing to get cuffs off and stuff like that. It’s an honor to be on the end of Mistress Stephanie’s leash.
Q: Does the name of your band have any- thing to do with a vagina?
Tibbie X: YES. GASH..all caps lock, for us
refers to pussy. Besides the Misfits it’s the one thing we could all agree on as a similar interest. I’m not even kidding. I keep encountering people who try to excuse the definition away and I fully
enjoy saying, no, not a wound, or paper tear, I’m talking about Pussy. We are pro sexuality, freedom fight- ers, anti oppression in all forms unless it’s consensual and hot , and into seriously kinky shit. I think GASH defines our intent quite per- fectly.
Q: During your performances, we noticed that you allow yourself to be bound at the wrists and placed in the audience, putting complete in total trust in the hands of strangers. Has this questionable decision ever come with repercus- sions?
Tibbie X: I’ve been entrusting myself to rowdy punk-rockers all over the world for years but never to the extent that I do in GASH where I am phys- ically bound blindfolded and in their hands. So far I have not encountered “that one drunk asshole” who crops up at shows here and there and annoys everyone until he gets knocked out.
I’m pretty experienced in gauging the crowd and seeing where things are good and where problematic issues are going wrong but now if any- one fucks with me they have Mistress Stephanie to contend with, I am in her hands and
any offering of me is her deci- sion. So far she’s had me blindfolded and tickled by an anonymous man at our Philly Dobbs show, and paddled by burlesque star in Times Square at the NYC Zom- bieCrawl After party. I’m excited to see what she has in mind next...
Q: Correct me if I’m wrong, but you and a couple of your band mates are active members in the church of Satan, is this true? When was the last time you all participated in a blood orgy? Tibbie X: I kinda wish that was
true of Satanism. Personally I would die in an orgy situa- tion. I need to be intensely connected to a Dom/Domme one on one. That’s why I decided to push my bound- aries and be publicly engaged with the audience, it’s a mutu- al experiment I want to see where I go and what they do. To answer your question I am an active member of The Offi- cial Church of Satan and Hit Cunningham is also a mem- ber. (I believe he is pro orgy, blood or not I’m guessing would be optional.)
Q: Some people may not know it but you also currently play bass for Rea- gan Youth, which we are huge fans of by the way. How do you contend with the differences of both bands?
Tibbie X: Reagan Youth is Paul Cripples band and I’ve been a Reagan Youth fan for many many years before I joined the band. Every show I play with them is like, I’m so psyched to be playing alongside my band-mates, in front of people, hearing the songs live and it’s a dream that I’m IN the band playing them on top of it. GASH is a completely separate thing, its my personal creative outlet. I think Reagan Youth keeps me in line I never want what I do in GASH to cross the line into porn, or to be viewed as exploitative in an uncool demeaning way. If I’m being spanked onstage it’s because I am publicly proud as a submis- sive for my own esteem and enjoyment. It also helps me unhinge from regular reality and slide into a subspace where I’m able to perform from a different perspective than say earlier that day when I was in “normal” rou- tine. It’s a ritual of Lust.
Q: Speaking of “Ritual” that is the song title for the Video on youtube of GASH performing Live at Gotham Grindhouse, Tammany Hall, NYC. Do you have more songs available and where can we find them?
