Round Eye - Round Eye (Ripping) Shanghai, China’s
best punk band
finally deliver
their stellar debut
and it’s everything
they promised on
their 2013 split
with Libyan Hit
Squad. Chock full
of MC5 grooves,
Butthole Surfers
unpredictability and
Black Flag
intensity, this is sure to be one of
the best releases of the year.

Pale Heads - Headless LP (Poison City) These Australians
maintain a steady
balance between
gritty garage
rock and noisy
hardcore. Some
songs sound like
Cosmic Psychos,
while others have
a Hot Water Music
feel. The
drummer was one
half of the now defunct and sorely
missed Shanghai punk duo, Pairs.

Summer Fun, Some Aren’t.
Summer Tips, Q’s & A’s
You’re visiting a friend’s vast property in upstate NY. Alone, in the middle of a forest 100x the size of Central Park, a tree falls on you. You scream for help. In reality, did you make a sound?
There are several possible responses.
One is - if no one heard your scream, in reality, there is no indication a sound was made.
Another is that your scream was heard by birds, bunnies, bears and bobcats - none of which can confirm you made a sound.
A third is that you definitely made a sound. The proof is that it was heard by attentive attorneys at Celino & Barnes - tops in personal injury cases.

Is it safe to drink water from a mountain stream ?
It’s known to outdoors men that water in small streams may contain traces of animal feces which can make you very sick, and possibly even be fatal.
One way to tell is by taking a sample of the water, and holding a flame 1/8 inch away from it. If it ignites, it means that any bacteria has been rendered harmless by toxic chemicals and is safe to drink according to government standards.
~~~~~~~~~
Here’s another question that continues to be frequently asked during the summer season: “Is road-kill safe to eat?”
There is no “official” regulation, as the USDA does not enforce inspection of these items. As a result, there is no “Date of death”, “Eat by ___” date, or Nutritional Facts that accompany them. But, when asked for advice on the subject, their reply was - “The rule of thumb is: whatever does not stick to the road is likely edible for other animals, including human animals. However, rinsing in cold water, and cooking thoroughly at high temperature is recommended.
If going camping, hiking, or merely leaving your place of lodging, always be certain there is a first-aid kit handy on the shelf of a nearby general-goods store, or pharmacy.
~~~~~~~~~
Stay hydrated. If you bring bottles of alcohol with you on a trip, make sure to consume large quantities of it in moderation.
~~~~~~~~~
If you plan on locking them in your vehicle on days of extreme heat, wait at least 12 hours before returning to check on your in-laws.
~~~~~~~~~
Keep your priorities in place. Give respect to the land, the law, and your neighbors first - obtain respect for yourself second. Keep in mind, however,
that when done in that order you will not, yet, have the respect instilled in you with which you can respect the first things in the first place.
Enjoy all the opportunities this season offers you, year-round.
Postcard)
Prepare to have your mind blown by this Indonesian band’s brain-melting psychedelia. These songs move beyond the Nuggets paradigm into the heavy acid rock of the Psychedelic Salvage Company compilations.
Spacey guitars,
distant vocals and thundering rhythms
make for an amazing record.
